Okay for me this is huge. Yes there is no picture, no reviews (obviously as the book isn't out yet), but my book is on amazon! http://www.amazon.com/Alex-Ironic-Gentleman-Adrienne-Kress/dp/160286005X/ref=sr_1_1/002-2736966-2031266?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1175312197&sr=1-1 Tee hee! Sorry this just really cool for me! Dudes! You can pre order my book! Like Harry Potter! (oh that reminds me I really have to pre order my Harry Potter . . . )

Wow, congratulations...I've put it on my wish list. :)

Aw thanks everyone! Everyone is always so darn supportive here! And it really truly means a heck of a lot to me.

Ben you seriously made me lol! There was a moment when I was typing the original post where I wondered whether people would automatically make that assumption!

03-31-2007, 09:37 AM
That's awesome, Adrienne! I'd totally pre-order, except I want to go into B&N on the day it comes out, pick up the book, and take it to the cashier, saying, "I KNOW her!" :D

03-31-2007, 10:00 AM
Congratulations. That is huge. Way to go.

03-31-2007, 01:39 PM

Congratulation Adrienne!!! I bet reviewers give it 10 stars...uh...wait, the limit is 5 stars. Well, it deserves 10 stars. http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/detail/stars-5-0.gif http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/detail/stars-5-0.gif

And thanks once again everyone! It is exciting isn't? Like I said before, makes it seem like it's a real book.

travelgal, I actually do have a very minimal page on myspace ( www.myspace.com/adriennekress ), but I don't really know how to gather friends. Though! John Zakour is one of my friends there! I have only like 6 or something.

Did you check out this article? I see Hollywood in your future.

Yeah I'm everywhere on the net with that whole film thing. It was so totally weird when I first found my name suddenly plastered everywhere! And totally awesome!

However, I haven't actually sold them the rights yet, but they have first matching rights and rights to first refusal. And anyway I don't really mind them plastering my name everywhere. The only thing that gets my goat (and it is so tiny that it so isn't really worth mentioning) is the phrase in my bio that says: "and has experience in local theater productions" as if I act as a hobby or something and not as actually my main job or anything. I mean I did study live and work as an actor in London UK for 3 years and now am back with an acting agent and auditioning and everything in Toronto. I know it isn't a big thing, but I guess it is a bit like those other threads "stupid things non-authors say" etc. Since the whole writing thing started everyone just assumes I am giving up the acting, like it was just something I did for fun. I feel about acting in the same way as writing. I HAVE to do it. I don't have a choice.

Okay, weird rant! Sorry about that! Had nothing at all to do with you Chumplet! Obviously I have deep buried rage issues or something!

Thanks as always for the support! Oh and if you want to see a very cynical but I think hilarious article about this supposed film, check out this link: http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=20124

Oh, that one was a bit tongue in cheek. But hey, it's buzz, and we all need buzz. My sister is an actress and playwright, too.

I can't wait to see what the cover art will be like! Ditto what maddy said about bragging to the cashiers (and librarians for that matter) about knowing the author. :D

:Hug2: Sympathy about them playing down your acting career. We know you're (at least) a double threat!

04-02-2007, 01:59 AM
All I can say is Wow!

04-02-2007, 04:11 AM
Cool! Congratulations!

:Trophy: It's the closest I could get to an Oscar for you - that's for the future!

As for Amazon - :e2woo:

Wonderful news, Toothpaste! Wow! :)

04-02-2007, 08:09 AM
Oh gosh guys!! You make me blush! If only I knew how to work emoticons I would have a little blushing guy right now. The support here is always . . . I mean seriously wow. Thank you so very much.

04-02-2007, 10:33 AM
:hooray: Congratulations!

04-02-2007, 03:49 PM

Grats, added to my wishlist.

Hey all! Just wanted to add that my publisher has finally put my cover image on Amazon, and I dunno, silly, but it makes it suddenly SO much more real now!

If you feel like it check it out: http://www.amazon.com/Alex-Ironic-Gentleman-Adrienne-Kress/dp/160286005X/ref=sr_1_1/002-2736966-2031266?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1175312197&sr=1-1

That's so FUN! And the cover is a great visual. Here's to a stellar Amazon sales rank! :)

05-01-2007, 03:44 PM
Wootage, Toothpaste!!! I read through the first page of this thread and then clicked on the link and went, "Hey, a cover!" :D

The cover kicks ass! Mega congrats to you -- and hey, where's the description? :) I love it already and I don't even know anything about it... LOL

05-01-2007, 03:56 PM
Great cover!! I even like the lettering--it's excellent! I wish I write the letter "A" like that. :)

05-01-2007, 05:10 PM
there's something about a movie with this title on imdb.com

does that mean you're books gonna be made into a movie? @_@

05-01-2007, 06:55 PM
Thanks guys! It is cool isn't it?! I don't know where the description is, I think it is down to my publisher (the UK publishers have put up a description on their amazon) - if you are interested you can visit my blog and check out the right hand side. Scroll down and I've posted a description. Yes Oarsman the "A" is very pretty.

Writer14, my publishers are also the same guys who used to run Miramax (now they are the Weinstein Company - their latest offering was Grindhouse), so they have first refusal rights on the film. Yes it is up everywhere as if it is a for sure thing, but nothing has been agreed yet. Though, I mean, it would be of course super cool wouldn't it!

05-01-2007, 07:00 PM
Mm ... movie dreams. Well, if the publisher has an in with the movie biz, you've got a better shot than most of us. Good luck, and congrats!

So, have you found http://www.titlez.com yet? It's a great toy for obsessing over the Amazon rankings ;)

That's awesome, Adrienne! I'd totally pre-order, except I want to go into B&N on the day it comes out, pick up the book, and take it to the cashier, saying, "I KNOW her!" :D

Me too. I'll say, "She's on my myspace friends list."

Congrats Toothpaste. That's so awesome.

The only thing cooler than going into the bookstore and smugly telling the cashier "I know the author" would be going to my local theatre and telling the cashier "I know the author whose book this is based on."

05-04-2007, 10:39 PM
Congratulations! Keep up the excellent work!

05-05-2007, 06:34 AM

05-05-2007, 06:43 AM

05-06-2007, 02:49 AM
