This feels rather weird.

I just finished the first draft of my historical romance. I know it needs a lot of work to be completely done, but this is so huge you would not believe.

It's the first big project I've ever really to say finished. I finish short things quite often, but this is the first time for something on this scale.

I have to say it again. This feels rather weird.

Yeah, it does feel weird. I cried when I finished my first one. Have a party. You deserve it.:partyguy:

Woo-hoo! Enjoy that "weird" feeling. Open a bottle of wine and put up your feet for a day. Then get right back on the horse with the next one. :D

I have really felt rather at loose ends today.

Yeah, sure, I still need to do the synopsis and other stuff. But it's been ... odd. lol. I worked on it as much as I could during the week, but I had marathons on the weekends unless there was a writers' group meeting or family stuff going on. (Heck, even then I took the laptop in the car and worked on it on the way there and back -- an hour each way.)

Thanks, guys. :)

That's awesome! I know so many writers out there who really are passionate about writing, but just can't seem to finish a MS. This is a huge accomplishment. Be proud of yourself!

Fantastic. Seriously. In my mind, this is the dividing line between wannabe writers and serious ones: writing something to the end.

By this definition I am still a wannabe (well, at least as far as novels are concerned) but I'm working on it...

Reward yourself. You deserve it.

Thanks, peeps. :)

Last night I started researching some of the stuff that was bugging me the most. Geez, I was trying to make them use glass for windows about ... 1300 years too soon. lol. That's an easy fix. As are most of the other things I found.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is feeling this way.

BIG congrats! It takes a lot of work and dedication, and YOU DID IT!

Thanks, :)

I have some things kind of gelling about what to do next but nothing definite as yet. Dangit.

Weird but wonderful, I'll bet. And you've already started the fixer-upper part. Congratulations on your drive and self discipline. This is a stupendous accomplishment.

And we'll see you in next month's freelance contest, right? :D

Thanks. :)

Amy, I certainly hope so! I had every intention of participating this month but I screwed up and missed the deadline. I think I didn't carefully read the deadline specs.

Grats! I'm trying to finish up my first novel now. I have a bad habit of writing bits and pieces and moving on. I can't wait until I can say that I've finished my first novel. Pat yourself on the back and do a little dance. :)

Thanks, guys. :)

As of yesterday, I have a concept for the next one. Same family/clan, same area, 100 years later.

:hooray: for completed first drafts! Congratulations, JenNipps! Completing the first draft is very important. How about some Belgian chocolates to celebrate with? *offers some*

woohoo! Sounds yummy. :)

I'll settle for sugar-free Peeps, though. (I love Peeps but never dreamed they made 'em sugar-free!)

And if you need a beta, I'm partial to historical romances... Check out the "willing readers" thread. Says I'll read first drafts... :D
