If you want a rounded discussion of good and bad points, details, things to look out for, things that will suit some types of authors and not others, the dreaded sales question etc--find an author with them you have some connection with and use a private method of communication.

Has there been a problem with asking question?

I was under the impression that we were to feel free to discuss and warn each other about pubs on the boards.

Do you know something the rest of us don't? Are staff at the pubs checking and blacklisting people for what they post here?

The point is you never know who is reading these forums, so an author you question may be leery about answering completely or at all. Private communications make it easier for open honest responses with out the public pressure.

That is the point, thanks. I see people ask, hear everything is great and wonderful with extra added butterflies etc. Writers can say something to a fellow writer directly that would be unprofessional to declare loudly in public--because you can get in the context in a personal conversation of why a certain publisher may not be ideal for a certain writer.
