I'm looking at the Barry Goldblatt Angency in Children's Writer's & Illustrator's Market and was wondering about the wording for submissions.

It says: Send queries only;....Prefers to read material exclusively.

Does that mean once they request your material like a full they want it exclusively or does that mean they want to be queried exclusively?

Just want to make sure.

I agree--if they request material, then they probably want exclusivity on the material. I've never heard of any agents requesting exclusivity on querying, though...?

Queries are not exclusive- Send them to everybody at once. Although some agents "prefer" to read exclusively you don't have to agree. Cross that bridge if and when you get asked for material. My agent said she preferred exclusivity but when I told her my stuff was already out to other agents she said OK...just let her know when I got an offer. As it was - I accepted hers.

Ok. That's what I thought but just wanted to be sure.

Thanks!
