I have a book that is being edited as we speak. My editor is using track changes to do the editing. She said when I write a novel instead of using the regular italics she wants me to use body italics. Apparently it shows up in my mss when receives it for eiditing.

The thing is, when I use ms word, even with track changes on, it wont let me use body italics--only regular italics.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What are body italics? Italics in a formatted manuscript should be shown as underlined. (Same thing as "body italics"?) You won't necessarily see it with Track Changes turned on because Track Changes "underlines" changed text, thus appearing to overwrite the underline you formatted. Once you accept the tracked changes, however, the underline becomes visible to you.

Does that makes any sense? I know my Track Changes! Not so certain we're talking about the same formatting thingymabob though.

FYI Some copy editors don't use underlines for italics.
(mine for example!)
