Mmmmm. There is the most scrumptious aroma of roasting turkey, smothered in olive oil, all through my house.

Today is hubby's birthday, so I decided to cook that turkey in my freezer and have mashed potatoes and stuffing.

My house smells so good.

(yesterday I baked a sour cream chocolate chip cake with bittersweet chocolate glaze and sem-sweet morsels pressed into the outside. Much chocolate.)

This is the going to be the best meal I've had in a month, easy.

Sending virtual roasting turkey smells into the board...

I'm now going to cry into my plate of re-heated spaghetti. My husband is the cook in this house, and I have to fend for myself while he's gone. What is this "freezer" of which you speak? You can "cook" things from this "freezer"? And they smell good? And TASTE good???

And what is "bake"?

All I can smell is my son sitting next to me. He just farted.

Eeewwwww!
No, mine is better. But I'm sure we'll be doing that...um... other...thing later, after the turkey.

'Bake' is what I do best. I mean, I CAN cook, but I like to bake better. And I'm good at it.

DClary - I did buy Hubby Flyboys for his birthday. His eyes got all big - things that explode! WWI planes! Oh joy!

I've been roasting, brining, grilling, and frying turkeys for almost 10 years now. I know the smell, and love it. My wife, wonderful in so many other ways, cannot stand turkey, duck, ostrich, or (I guess) goose. I've had to do amazing things with that much less interesting bird - chicken.

I could cook myself a small turkey breast, but it's not the same when you cook for just yourself. I like hearing the oohs and ahhhs, and expressing humility when faced with praise.

I already know what she'll say: "Go ahead - try to do better."

:D

Not worth if for succulent, delicious turkey. Maybe.

Rich, all I really do to the bird is slather that bad boy with EVOO all over (make sure you get all of it) and sprinkle on a little onion powder and garlic salt. And I rub salt and oil inside too.

Just roast until done. Nothing fancy. Serve with stuffing (stove top) and mashed taters (Potato buds - come on, this ain't Thanksgiving!)

Excellent. Between the great food, the explody movie, and a wonderfully loving wife, I'll bet he had a fantastic birthday.

With a name like yours I guess you'd kill for just about anything edible.
