Help me, please. I can't find any custom avatar option. Can't find the custom phrase for over the avatar either.
I've done a forum search for the answer but all that told me was this "custom" option exists.

Thanks.

Go into the 'User CP' in the upper left-hand corner... right next to 'FAQ'. Click. Over on the left-hand side, there's a list of links... look down them until you find 'Edit Avatar'. Click. Down at the bottom of the page, under the other avatars, there's a radio button for 'Custom Avatar' and a place to browse to upload yours. Make sure it's not more than 19k, upload, and you're in. ;)

I can't find the the radio button.
Is there a trick to make it show up?

Thanks for responding.

Suirattigas, when you click on the "edit avatar" option you should see three boxes, one on top of the other, in the main screen.

The first is "Your Current Avatar", the second "Pre-defined Generic Avatars" and the third is for "Custom Avatars". Are you seeing all three?

If so, the radio button is in the third box. You should be able to load something from there.

If not, you might want ask one of our lovely Site Admins, who can investigate for you.

The only trick is that your post count must be 50 or more to use a custom avatar.

There are three boxes on the 'edit avatar' page. The top one is titled "Your Current Avatar". It shows your current avatar; within it, there's a radio button that says "Do not use an avatar".

The next box down, titled "Pre-Defined Generic Avatars", shows the standard avatars available; there are radio buttons for all the standard avatars.

The final box -- just above the "Save Change" button -- is titled "Custom Avatar". That's where you select Custom Avatar; there is a radio button there labeled "Use Custom Avatar". You can choose either to enter a URL for your avatar, if it's on the Web, or you can upload it from your computer.

Hope that helps.

If you don't see on your 'Edit Avatar' page the part I've got marked with two red Xs, you need to PM Mac or ChunkyC and see what's wrong. ;)

I'm not seeing all three.
I've only got the first two.
Now what?
Thanks for the help so far.

1) Try logging out, clearing your cache, shutting down your browser, and starting over.

2) Contact one of the admins (ChunkyC or Fahim). Maybe the post-count limit has gone up, but I haven't heard of it.

OFG,

We cross-posted. You gave me info I needed just as I was asking it. Dang, you're good!

I'll PM a big gun and get this handled.

Poetinahat had a good suggestion... try logging out, clearing your cache, closing your browser and coming back to AW and logging in again. Sometimes the system has to do the Macarana once in a while to take inventory of its pieces. :D Good luck!

In the toidy.
I could be wrong, but along with 50 posts you need a certain number of reps.

Or not.

I could be wrong.

Yes; it was the cache clearing.

Tech Support Secret: If you're using a Web browser, and have a problem, clear your cache, and relaunch the browser.

Hmm, yeah! If you hadn't cleared out your cache since you cleared fifty posts, that might've done it! (He says, not knowing exactly what an AW cookie contains)

Turns out my usergroup was still set to "awaiting email confirmation." That nice Mr. ChunkyC took care of it. Now you all get to see my self-portrait avatar.
