i got my first rejection from realms of fantasy a couple days ago. it was a form letter on a little slip of paper. i'm not too upset, just glad they're saving paper by using smaller pieces. i'll prob be posting that piece on the share your work forum.

Excellent! I have one of those. Is yours blue?

Just keep writing and submitting, now.

It's always good to get the first one out of the way.

I hate when they reject me by anything less that an eight and a half by eleven. Some of the culprits are Esquire, Playboy, New Yorker, Ploughshares, etc. I want a bold full sheet. I want a uniform file of rejections. Screw there cute little slips.

Ah, good. Then I don't have to submit to them again yet. I'm collecting rejections, and currently working on getting the one from JJA (The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction) that means he actually read it, and after that, I'll go for the Gordon van Gelder one.

It's only a matter of time...

Ugh, the first few are no fun, but you'll have the acceptances to balance them out before you know it. Keep at it and best of luck!

Sorry about the rejection, and the size. Whoever said size doesn't matter never got one of those little slips of paper! hehe

Keep submitting! You'll find a home for it.

Don't lose heart, young warrior, for you shall discover the light soon.

(I have absolutely no idea where that came from)

Anyways, the first one can be a real pile of fecal matter, but keep sending it out. One day, that rejection slip will be your coaster when you're living the good life. ;)
