Well, here goes everything...

Roughly thirty-six hours from now, I'll be unemployed, homeless and headed west to take my shot as a screenwriter in Los Angeles.

As improbable as it sounds, I actually stuck to my big 'five year plan'. My film-making crap is all packed up, my 'survive-LA-expenses' nest egg is in the bank, and my scripts... well, they're close to being ready for prime-time.

AW and the other writing boards I frequent have been a huge help in getting me ready - in terms of my writing, in terms of understanding the business, and on a personal level in terms of staying focused on the goal of being a professional writer. Zero hyperbole: I wouldn't be ready without you guys. Thank you.

After tonight, my ability to get online will be spotty until I find a place and get settled in. And with contest season fast approaching, I really need to knuckle down on my rewrites, so I probably should ease up on messageboard shenanigans for a little while.

I'll be back posting on a regular basis soon, but until then it'll be sporadic updates. In the meantime, take care of yourselves and keep writing.

Not exactly.

I found a nice and reasonably cheap weekly hotel to base my search from. I've looked at some places, but I haven't found "the one" yet.

After five years of working as a mover, I want to find a place I can stay for a few years.

So, basically, south of the hills, north of downtown, west of the 101. From there it's a crapshoot.
