Mostly inside my own head.
A link to an excerpt from the first chapter: "The Triumpf of the Thrillers," in The New York Times." There is a reference to James D. MacDonald.

P.S. Actually it's John D. MacDonald, probably an error.

John D. MacDonald writes mysteries that could arguably also be classed as thrillers, so probably not an error.

I haven't read the excerpt, but I do know that lots of books that might once have been classified as mystery or suspense are being pulled into the thriller category these days.

A marketing thing, in my view.

So, not our Uncle Jim?

ltd.

No. At a first glance, I thought that our Uncle Jim was cited, but no, it's John D. MacDonald. CheshireCat is right. The article makes a strong case of the fact that what was once considered a peripheral genre, now takes central stage and brings millions & millions to publishers.
