I saw some great tips in the Lulu thread and thought they would be easier to find in a separate one.
I use MS Word to write mss and Publisher to design the covers, which I then save to a pdf.
I did briefly try Word but I couldn't work out how to get the height and width accurately - it seemed easier in Publisher.
I'll dig out my PoD info about creating spines - there is a specific calculation to use for amount of pages, plus the overall calculation should include bleed.
I gather the latest version of Adobe Acrobat (7) does this for you.
With Publisher, you can create an all-in-one (ie back cover/spine/front cover) as long as you know the correct size of the spine. You also use text boxes.
God knows how MS Excel can be used. Any chance of a 1,2,3 idiot's guide?
