depends on the siggy...some of em are distracting, but after I read them a couple times I can just ignore them. (and you know you can turn that feature off in your user cp?

I like them. They can make a boring thread seem funny... I tend to look for correlations between the remarks and the signatures and then laugh... Sorry, I'm a geek.

Plus, they give insight into personality.

it's under "edit options" I turn it off at work sometimes as well as pictures, just so the screen isn't too "colorful".

I'm reminded on occasion that this site is international, and that in many places, you dial in or you don't come. People with dial-up service may not have the time to noodle around figuring out how to turn off sigs or images, I imagine. (I know when I first arrived, via dial-up, I didn't.) So I've got a fairly active dislike for large and/or animated signature images.

C'mon, it shouldn't be larger than your typical post, should it? Unless you're auctioning things for the site's benefit, of course.

Every time I see one in particular, I laugh out loud, even though it's distracting.

But then you'll miss the auction advertisements. :)
The images don't show but the links are still there -- for example, your sig shows as:
Ol' Girl

The Story of Me... and some darn good eatin', too!

It's the moving avatars that get me; I go on visual overload and end up skipping posts or getting out of the thread. The same with certain smiley's; eg, snoopy, maybe 'cos they move so fast. Big avatars I can take, if they're not too bright (like pink or red) and in your face.

So if I can get rid of them; that'd be real cool.

People who have animated and/or big pictures as part of their sigs are no better than the people who drive the gas guzzling SUV without even a thought as to what it does to the environment.

As we all know, bandwith is a finite resource and due to the democrats insistance that we don't drill for more in silicon valley, we must conserve.

And I look forward to seeing Bravo's doc...

"An Inconvenient Sig"

..this spring in selected theaters.

I voted for "I love big ones" before I read what the poll was about. How do I change my vote?
