......I would sit there, quietly, on the phone and stammer out something about wondering what sort of tea I should have. I love the concept, but I'd make an absolute twit of myself. Not for me, alas. :)

I'm with you, PeeDee. Verbal expression and me? Not a good way to convince anyone to take a chance on my novel.

Kind of an interesting way for the company to promote the book, though.

Apparently they are afraid of the power of Canadian writers?

That's what I thought too. Thanks for posting it, Jenna.

This seems to be more of a clever marketing promotion for Blind Submission than anything else. But I guess since it doesn't cost you anything...

LOL I entered and if they call me...I'll stammer about how my novel is beyond words...then they'll hang up on me after 15 minutes. It's worth the shot all the same.

In the toidy.
I don't even want to be the next big thing - that sounds tiring.

I'd settle happily for the next average thing, or the next pretty darn good thing when you're finished with the great thing. Or the next thing we found very enjoyable. Is that a catagory?

"What makes you the next big thing?"

"Er. Um. I don't know. I, like, write good? Stories?"

"I see. And what makes your story unique from all others?"

"I....I......*bursts into tears and hangs up wailing*"

Neat contest, but I want REPRSENTATION, not CONSULATATION.

I don't have any problem telling why I'd be the next big thing:

"At least for the early part of my writing career, I'm willing to whore myself out to what's selling, generating bubble-gum pop fiction that will fly off the shelf just so that I can afford to quit the day job. After that, I'll focus on 'art' and 'fiction that matters' if I'm rich enough."

But no, sorry, having a chat just doesn't seem like a big-enough prize for me.
