Take a serious or famous piece, on Politics, on Browning's poetry, the Gettysburg address, on anything and make it completely absurd but do not obscure the actual piece in the process such that we can recognize it.

Example: Did you know that you can sing most Emily Dickenson poetry to the tune of the Yellow Rose of Texas?

Because I would not stop for Death
He kindly stopped for me....

Or that Gilligan's Island can be sung to the tune of Amazing Grace?
The reverse is also true but somehow, I feel disrespectful then.

I will work on one --be sure and give the orriginal its due and then have fun.

Not sure I understand the exercise. Do you mean something like this?

Original
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.

New
Now I lie here, wide awake,
I pray the Lord some rest to make.
I've tried prayers rife with meaning,
But I'm still staring at my ceiling.

Or do you mean something completely different?

We the humorists of the Share Your Work section of Absolute Write, in order to form more-perfected, silly pieces about ballet mishaps, bathroom visits interrupted by boisterous children, barfing on first dates and at the theater, awkward first kisses, Latin classes, cross-dressing Mary Kay saleswomen, exploding breast implants, and secretive cat refugees, do ordain and establish this thread for higher post counts and sweet, sweet reputation points.

WARNING! Might be a little R Rated WARNING!

Theirs...

Precious memories, unseen angels
Sent from somewhere to my soul
How they linger ever near me
And the sacred past unfold

Chorus
Precious memories, how they linger
How they ever flood my soul
In the stillness of the midnight
Precious sacred scenes unfold

Mine...

Precious mammaries, unclean danglers
Sent from somewhere to cajole
Bound to sling they're ever near knee
Oh their sordid past untold

Chorus
Precious mammaries, how they tingle
How they ever flood my soul
In the stillness of the midnight
Precious sacred scenes unfold

meet you in hell...
