... the third wave of the Ice Storm of '07 is in full, rousing swing here in OKC! We have Thunder Sleet! It's coming down fairly briskly at the moment. All flights have been cancelled headed up Chicago way, so Ol' Boy and I celebrated and we're snuggled in for the duration. He was supposed to leave at 12:34pm, if he could even get to the airport. The later flights had already filled up - just before they, too, cancelled.

We still have power, thank goodness! Last numbers without power were around 77,000, mostly in the southern, south easternand eastern portions of the state.

Here's to the power gods taking pity on us! Keep warm and safe, guys and gals, along the track of this booger.

Brrrrr...I hear you, Ol' Girl. We have iced-up trees here in north Texas, and we're also in hibernation mode. Which explains why I've been on AW all morning! :D Hubby made apple-caramel coffee cake, and we're putting a fire in the fireplace...

For your snowed-in morning...!

APPLE CARAMEL COFFEECAKE

3 eggs
2 cups sugar
1-1/2 c. oil
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
3 c. chopped, peeled apples
1 c. coarsely chopped pecans

TOPPING:

1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. milk
1 c. packed brown sugar
pinch salt

In a mixing bowl, beat eggs until foamy; gradually add sugar. Blend in oil and vanilla. Combine flour, salt and baking soda; add to egg mixture. Stir in apples and pecans. Pour into a greased 10-in. tube pan; bake at 350 for 1 hour and 15-20 min. or until the cake tests done. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 min. Remove cake to a serving platter. For topping, combine all ingredients in a saucepan; boil 3 min., stirring constantly. Slowly pour over warm cake (some topping will run down onto the serving plate). Yield: 12-16 servings.

At least I’m off work tomorrow, so I have time to shovel myself out. The news has announced this all week, because of the football game. Thanks for the warning and I think I’ll make some pumpkin bread with cream cheese frosting, even though I don’t know how to make cream cheese frosting. Take care.

Cream Cheese Icing (Good idea to double this recipe...):

3 oz Cream Cheese
2 tbsp Butter
1 ½ C Powdered Sugar
1 tsp Grated Orange Peel

In small bowl, combine all frosting ingredients; beat until smooth.

Greenland.

I hear they need it.

I saw bees, too. You're not supposed to see bees in January.

That cake sounds amazing. If only I had all the ingredients here. Thanks to the ice I won't be leaving anytime soon.

 I'm not touching that conversation.

Still keeping warm OFG? Things settled down at all?

Oh, and by the way, do you want a Gmail account for all the auction stuff instead of your own?

Yes, Unique, they certainly are... they just droop a little lower in the 21st Century than they did in the 20th. :D

I've got a 'throw-away' account, Bard... don't know why I didn't use it in the beginning. It's not out of control, though. I'll send you a PM if it gets that way... Gmail have to have a referral or something?

The weather's moved on up the turnpike toward St. Louis and points east-north-east. Good riddance! This morning it's overcast, COLD (wind chills in the negative numbers) and SLICK.

You can get Gmail by referral or by applying via text message on your cell phone. The idea is to keep down the number of people that use throw-away email accounts to send spam.

I've been happy for 2 years. No complaints with gmail.

Keep warm, guys!! 27 in AZ this morning. This is the lowest I've seen it here. It usually doesn't drop below 40. Someone's P.O.ed Mother Nature again.
