Kansas! Again.
This thread has confused me.

You know what that means, right?

Yep.

It means the thread is now about Grapefruit.

Grapefruit is the least appealing citrus available. A better hijack would be about lemons.

What's wrong with lemon in your tea, if it's the right black tea?

Not a thing. For example, I think a slice of lemon would REALLY improve this cup of Irish Breakfast I'm having right now, because it tastes a bit like motor oil.

Generally, though, I just like my tea all by itself. I haven't found a tea yet that needs lemon, or honey. (This is my failing, not the tea's).

I must have milk for my tea--and I do mean milk and not those vile non-dairy creamers.

My current tea-by-the-gallon is Empress of China. That doesn't need anything at all with it.

This Irish Breakfast never comes out right. Lemon? Milk? Honey? Wotcher think?

My earl grey tea comes out perfectly, though. Again, all by itself.

Honey and milk have no place in my tea!

(have you tried that Lapsang Souchong yet?)

I mostly drink English Breakfast and it always needs milk, so I would go with trying milk. It soothes the acidity. I've never tried Empress of China, but I shall give it ago.

I'm partial to Cinnamon Stick Tea which I take to work. Just plain old Bigelow Tea Bags, but highly portable and it MUST have milk. It just isn't good enough alone.

I think this thread is now officially hijacked. Good work.

Bigelow makes very good tea bags. I use loose leaf tea in a pot that lets it swirl as it seeps. Very wonderful. And, because I'm an absolute dork.....I bought some thin mesh fabric, some string, and I make my own tea bags. I take them to work sometimes.

Lapsang Souchong, I seem to recall I tried some from a teashop that did samples. I don't remember what it tastes like at all now, so it may not have made a huge impression. I should really try it again.

English Breakfast, like Irish, is another one that comes out too strong for my tastes. Possibly, this means that I really do need to be adding things to my teas.

I like herbal teas, chiefly the Tazo brand. The Passion flavor is great; very spicy but just oh-so-sweet. I also like Chai tea. I used to drink Irish Breakfast until my throat started hurting.

I don't put anything in my tea unless it's bad tea (do restaraunts know how to serve anything but plain old Lipton tea?) or it's too strong. And then it's honey or vanilla.

If my coffee is either too strong or too week, I'll drink it black as the devil and sweet as sin.

I also have a tendancy to make my tea very, very strong which probably contributes to my need to add milk. Something to think about. Perhaps a lighter tea would be fine without milk.

Oh, I'm a total coffee addict. Coffee and tea. You can keep soda's and stuff. I'll drink coffee black, with milk, with sugar, with flavors, without flavors, etc....

I can't drink coffee. I like tea. Iced tea. Lots and lots of iced tea. (I'd buy tea bags with extra caffeine if they sold them.)

Extra caffeine's easy. You just shovel more loose leaf tea in. When you can stand a spoon up in your cup, you've got enough caffeine.

(Or: When you could cut your tea into cubes and sell it as cheap building material....you have enough caffeine.)

(Or: When your tea cup itself is vibrating so hard it phases through the table, you've got enough caffeine)

(Or: When smelling it makes your brain ooze, you've got enough caffeine)

(Or: When it's sheer existence makes all surrouding beverages caffeine free, you've got enough caffeine)

(Or........)

It wouldn't have to, except I haven't any tea right now, and so it's occupying a rather large piece of mental real estate over here.

I like a nice mix of Earl Grey, English Breakfast and a slice of sweet Meyer lemon from my tree - with some sweetener (sugar, honey, stevia) - so good on these chilly mornings!

PeeDee - join me in a cup sometime!
