Hi, Gang!

Here is an excerpt from the notification I received today regarding submissions to this annual competition.

The 2007 Erma Bombeck Writing Competition is open for
entries. Entries must be submitted using the online entry form,
and will be accepted until 11:59 PM, EST, on February 18,
2007. There is no entry fee and no age restriction. One
Dayton, Ohio-area winner and one global winner will be
awarded cash prizes in each of two categories -- "Humor" and
"Human Interest." Dayton-area winning essays will be published
in the Dayton Daily News, and all winners will be published
on the Washington-Centerville Public Library Web site.
Judges will also select several essays for "Honorable
Mention."

For complete writing competition guidelines, online entry
form, or more information, visit

I wonder if I should submit the piece I wrote about the crush I have on Erma Bombeck.

Wynter, if you're in, I'm going with ya. 'Course I'm at the age when my bad thang doesn't so much shake as it does flap in the breeze.

heheheh -- that'll win ya something right there ;)

Come on y'all, join meeeeeeeeee!

I also took the plunge and sent in an entry. This was my first contest entry and I had a moment of panic once I hit the send button, but now that it's done, I'm happy I entered. Good luck to everyone else who has entered.

According to the site, winners will be announced in the spring. It does not say, early or late spring, just spring. I suggest we drum really, really softly for now.

Hi, all.

I usually hang out at the greeting card forum, but entered the humor contest last year, and entered again this year. It's good practice fine-tuning it to 450 words. I know they receive lots of entries, but you never know---someone around these parts might win.

Good luck to all, and to all a good night.

I entered, too, this year and it's my first time entering any writing competition. Keeping it to 450 words was indeed a challenge.

Good luck to the rest of you, too!

Mine was right at 450 words. I had to scan the whole thing a few times and pick out 2-word phrases to replace 3-word phrases to make fit.

I bow to all of you. 450 to be funny in isn't enough for me.

Can't wait to see which one of you guys wins. (I am, of course, expecting one from our fab Humor group to make it to the top slot. So I'm biased...so shoot me.)
