I got a present from my brother, familiar to all writers out there -- the shaft.

Yes, he forgot to get me something in time and instead handed over an IOU. God bless him.

The slow rotating middle finger. Actually my better half gave me the Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus I wanted. That's about it.

A floating pen. . . it stands straight up from its base. . . haven't used it yet so I don't know what color it is, but I bet its black.

If it is blue I will be upset. . .


I don't like blue.

I got the new Lorenna McKennitt CD, An Ancient Muse -- I get a ton of work done to the sounds of her music.

My older son's girlfriend bought me a "1,000 Places To See Before You Die" journal, in which to record my travels. She's a sweetie, but I have a hunch she's trying to get me "out of town" a little more often.

My son bought me the "Homeland Insecurity" edition of the Onion, which is so funny it hurts. Here are a few headlines:

My wonderful, empathetic husband got me a mini waterfall over rocks with a candle so I could listen to the sound of the water and look at the candle while I'm writing.

Two Barnes and Noble gift cards! WOOT! WOOT!

With my family busy with what they got for Christmas, I got TIME!

A drill.
Now I can finish hanging the shelves to put up all those books that are cluttering my writing area so I have a place to write.

Hubby received the 2007 Songwriter's Market.

Poet's Market and Writer's Market 2007 . And some cash to use towards a major writer's conference in the spring...

(Oh, and a subscription to Writer's Journal for a birthday gift...)

I got a very nice mother of pearl inlaid notebook from my sister. Of course, this one will probably sit, barely used like my others, but its the thought that counts!

Ummm... I got a paid LJ account, does that count? And a book I loved when I was little, "Ballet Shoes". (It's just as good as it was two decades ago.)

I got a really neat book titled "You Can Write Greeting Cards," from my friend in the greeting card exchange we had in the greeting card forum, and pretty earrings from my hubby. Guess he wants me to look nice when I sit at the computer.

I'm afraid I got more 'readerly' things than writerly things.
