I will complete a play this year! I will!
Hey,

I posted a while back saying I'd been shortlisted for a playwriting competition, and the winners would be announced in December. Just letting you know that I didn't make it any further. Out of 1200 entries I got shortlisted along with 325 others, but I didn't make it to the final 140.

Gotta tell the bad with the good hey? Guess I'd better get back to it.

Congrats on making it into the top tier  Take a bow! And be sure to note your admirable accomplishment on your writing resume. The competition in writing contests is fierce, and making it into the short list is truly something to be proud of, and it should definitely spur you on to continue writing and submitting :)

Hey, that's not so bad! Sure, being #1 would have been better, but come on . . . if I could DO math, I'd show you what a fine percentage you made it to :)

But I can't, so I'll just smile and say Hang In There :)

That's encouraging. Keep working at it!

To add math to what MidnightMuse said...
You were among the top 27%, and fell somewhere between 27% and the top 11% that made the final cut. Your work was considered superior to more than 875 others. Excellent!

You climbed quite high up that ladder. Don't give up now. It's just a matter of time before you get to the top. I'm sure the view up there will be worth the effort. We'll be cheering for you.

What oarsman said. :D Heck, if my writing was declared better than more than 800 other people, I'd be thrilled.

Being shortlisted is nothing to sneeze at. Congratulations on that.
