I am not sure if this is where I need to post this question. I'm sorry if it is. When writing flash backs, do I use italics, or not?

I don't use italics for flashbacks nor have I seen italics used in published novels where the author goes into flashback.

Use italics only if the flashback scene is a short one (a few paragraphs) within the story; otherwise just ease the reader into the flashback and use normal font. When and how much to use italic in fiction is one of those things that is evolving for modern tastes. For example, it used to be that using italics for internal dialogue was more or less typical; now the "experts" say not to use italics. Since there's no Grammar Supreme Court, there are still disagreements from time to time over what's the best thing to do.

Don't use italics in a ms. Ever. Use underlining instead; that makes it much easier for your editor and copy editor to write in changes.
