China's economy should expand by 10.5 percent this year as an investment boom surges ahead despite tightening government controls, the country's top planner said in comments reported Monday by state media.
Total economic output should exceed 20 trillion yuan (US$2.5 trillion; euro1.9 trillion), said Ma Kai, chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, according to the Xinhua News Agency and the China Daily newspaper. They said he made the comments at a weekend meeting with Chinese legislators. . . .
