I'm wondering if I've turned into a mouse potato.
Fingers on the mouse bic...

I don't think I'm going to wait til New Years to change this...

7mo. ago I was exercising each day... running with my shepherd 2 miles a day...
My ol' abs would rival the best and put to shame a twenty year old's. Nice
6 pack and a nice behind to match...not really bragging but I had worked hard. That Bree Van de whoever on Dirty Housewives had nothing on ol' Mama!:D

My beloved shepherd died unexpectedly May 31 and it all stopped. It knocked the wind out of our sails, (me and my hubby). We grieved and we just simply stopped. Can't explain it..
I'm going to try and run tomorrow...I know my muscles have memory...
...and forgiveness:)

I'm sorry about your shepard Kimmi. That's so hard. :Hug2:

I'm impressed with the running thing. I can't run. I just can't do it. I've tried and it hurts every joint in my body. Also, I look ridiculous. I can (and will start doing so again--soon) walk endlessly. Miles upon miles upon miles upon . . .

Okay, maybe not quite that much. But I am a skilled walker.

To quote the movie Real Genius, I run only when chased. :D

Take it easy getting back into exercising. My usual exercise is walking, and every time I let it lapse and try to start again it takes a few days to get used to moving again.

So sorry to hear about your shepherd. Will you be getting another dog? Maybe having another dog to run with might help.

Now I'm picturing you being chased through the snow by two puppies. Yep, that should get you moving again. :D

Thanks Kimmi! She runs. She's a bullet.

I have to ask. What kind of puppies? Will you have to run with them on leashes?

Ones a cattle mix and was about 8 mo. old they think when we adopted her and the other a 57 mix and was about 6 wks. old. We got them July.
Leashes only..unless we go to our farm, then they can have free reign!

All dogs are wonderful, but I've a preference for those mixes (obviously). It's great you've got a place they can run off the leash. I'm fortunte to have the same thing--leash in town, but when we go to see the horses (my parent's hobby farm) she gets to play farm dog for the day. A position she takes very, very seriously.

How far will you go tomorrow? Or do you do it by time? This business of voluntarily running bewilders and fascinates me. :D

But how do you KNOW? Do you run until you're exhausted and then call to have someone pick you up and take you home? Or do you have an innate sense of where the halfway mark is and turn around? :D

I wish I'd thought of the popcorn guy.

The runners high, I have heard people speak of this before.

I get into a zone when I walk, but it can start with the first step. How long does it take for a runners high to hit?

BTW--I'm writing this while simultaneously (sp?) eating a Death By Chocolate ice cream cone. :D

Reminds me of a sticker I saw once: I used to jog, but the ice kept falling out of my glass.

I took a big bite of my ice cream before reading this and the flavor suddenly took a new and more literal meaning.

The hi tech version of couch potato. Instead of TV, you sit around and click on the mouse.

Are you with Kimmi on the running? Or TheIt and I on our confusion about the running?

Oh! That's cute. I relate! I'm a mouse potato, too.

I can't run, I have chronic asthma. Walking is a chore also, especially in the cold weather.

I can click faster on my mouse! :D

But I did write 2 chapters for my novel. :e2brows:

Ugh, asthma, I don't have it, but certainly know plenty of people that do. One of my old college roommates suffers from serious asthma (goes nowhere without her inhaler) yet she ran a marathon this summer. That is simply not right.

Also, it makes me feel tremendously wimpy. And that's just unkind.

I'm allergic to dust and it causes swelling when I breath it in and it's everywhere. I can walk in the late spring, early summer though, but not too far. I've always wanted to be a runner and have tried even on the tred mill, but I always end up with swelling lungs. It sucks!

I hear of people doing amazing things with asthma, I write. :D And do a little flirting when I can (here at AW). It gives me a thrilly that I would get if I could run. :e2brows:
