In a surprise twist in the debate over Iraq, Rep. Silvestre Reyes, the soon-to-be chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said he wants to see an increase of 20,000 to 30,000 U.S. troops as part of a stepped up effort to “dismantle the militias.”

The day before the Baker-Hamilton report is discussed with the president. This one defection from "withdrawl" policy gives the administration license to do whatever they want, and ignore whatever mandate Dems seem to think the election gave them.

They've been doing whatever they want and ignoring public opinion and common sense for six years, and operating under the presumption that they had a mandate for all their actions. Gimme a break with this "mandate" bullcrap, nobody has even suggested it.
