I'm on this other board for modeling, and they have this cool thing. When you're on probation (aka "Taking A Short Break") you can post in one forum only. And the only people who can respond to you are the other people on probation. Like a deserted island. Can we do that here? What do you think?

That's the exact problem I've seen with other forums and a time-out area. It quickly becomes bloated, essentially dead space on the forum that isn't related to the forum's purpose in any way.

It also strikes me as catering to troublemakers. The rules are pretty simple, and not at all hard to understand. And I've never seen anyone new smacked down for violating them without at least a few casual warnings.

So, I guess I'm asking, why?
