It's just a way for one member to acknowledge a post. In the lower left corner of each post, there's a scale. If you click the scale, it will allow you to leave a "rep point" for the poster and a comment, if you like.

They aren't redeemable for anything other than the warm fuzzies of knowing that we're hearing you. :)

What exactly happens when you receive them? Do they add themselfs up like points? I take it is, so

Birol
12-04-2006, 03:00 AM
Yes, they add up like points. There are different levels, but those have been hidden to keep us from going rep point crazy. You can still see your level, or other people's levels, if you put your mouse pointer just below the 'P' and 'o' in the word "Posts:" in the area identifying a poster. Everyone starts out with 10 points and "On a distinguished road."

In your CP area, you will see your point total and any comments left in the area devoted to rep points.

Do some points count as two for certain people because I was looking through the options and saw the rep points and they don't add up. I have 15 points besides the 10, but there aren't 15 people who commented.

Birol
02-19-2007, 08:54 PM
Rich is being a smart aleck. It's okay to ignore him when he's bored like this.

1. You start with 10 rep points that you get just for registering.
2. If a member has over x-number of posts, they give more points each time. I think it's something like 10,000 posts equal 2 points instead of 1, but don't quote me on that.
3. Admins and MacAllister give 10-points each time.

It's also possible that you might have received a negative rep point that would detract from the total, but I don't think that's really likely. With only 214 posts, if you were doing something that was earning you negative rep points, some mod somewhere would be keeping an eye on you to make certain that you were one of them there troublemakers. ;)

Moon Daughter

Mmm. Chocolate chip cookie dough. With hot fudge sauce or magic shell.

Magic shell ice cream makes every better. Especially if you fill the ice cream cone halfway with it, and then fill the rest with ice cream. You get a tasty cone when you're done. Unless the bottom has a hole, and then you get a mess.

Birol

I have to disagree; Carmel Sutra is the best or is it Coffee Heath Bar Crunch?

I like the Starbucks coffee ice cream quite a bit. Espresso and Classic, and the one with dark chocolate .. .

Up here, you just need to go to downtown Seattle, and you should find about four or five Starbucks shops within a radius of a couple blocks.

Ha! I've got six within a fifteen minute walk, and two of 'em by bookstores.

But they don't sell the ice cream.

Tim Hortons totally rocks.

Doughnuts do not exist in this country. Or doughnut holes. Or crullers. Or any of that other doughnutty-related goodness. :( I haven't had such things for going on four years.

I think we need to put together a collection and send quidscribis a box or two of Hostess* donuts.

*Hostess because they're already boxed and preserved for shipping.

I'd chip in. I hate to see anyone suffer from a lack of Ding Dongs. :shudders:

I'd strongly avoid trying to get anything with powdered sugar/confectioner's sugar on it past any customs agency, anywhere.

Makes 'em downright cranky, it does. Think of the non-sugar possibilities . . .

Chocolate glazed? Regular glazed? Cinnamon sugar? Toasted coconut? Lots of non-powdered sugar boxed possibilities.

I used to love Dunkin Donuts, but that was before the KrispyKreme opened up about four miles north of where I live.

In fact, since they opened I haven't seen a Dunkin Donuts around here anymore. All the old ones in my area closed up and one converted into a 'Dippin Donuts'.

With only 214 posts, if you were doing something that was earning you negative rep points, some mod somewhere would be keeping an eye on you to make certain that you were one of them there troublemakers. ;)

Sounds like the points in Nascar racing!! Stay away from me or I'll knock you into the wall!!! :)
