Ol' Fashioned Girl

This one's hot off the Private Messages, folks... and you ain't gonna believe it. I've got something that's SOLD OUT almost everywhere! If you want one for that special 'kid' in your life - no matter how old s/he may be, take a peek at this description of:

T.M.X. Tickle Me Elmo! (http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-H9207-T-M-X-Tickle/dp/B000ETRE0Q)

This is the 10th Anniversary of Tickle Me Elmo and is all over Ebay... its Buy Me Now price is $156. It's BRAND NEW. In the original box... AND, as if the toy itself wasn't enough: there will be an EXTRA surprise tucked in the box for the lucky winner of this bid!

Our donor wishes to remain anonymous - and that's a firm anonymous, too! No games! I won't tell. Ever. So don't ask. I mean it! :D

This auction starts NOW and will run 'til next Saturday evening, 8PM, CDT.

We'll start the bidding at $50 for this one, folks... and keep it in increments of $1.00.
Sorry - no shipping outside the contiguous U.S.

Who'll be the first bidder?

CACTUSWENDY
12-03-2006, 02:51 AM
:D Well....shoot......I will bid 51.00.......(Have to get me a kid now.....)

Ol' Fashioned Girl

I knew this one would be hot. ;)

Well, at least we know it's not Cactuswendy.

Come on, Jen, just a little hint. You know we'll eventually figure out who the generous donor is anyway. Don't make it hard on us...

Ol' Fashioned Girl
12-03-2006, 03:22 AM
Nuh-uh.

Silver King
12-03-2006, 03:46 AM
With the help of my pet detective:hat:we've already figured it out. But I promise I won't tell anyone. Your secret is safe with me.

Ol' Fashioned Girl
12-03-2006, 03:52 AM
I bet you haven't.

Silver King
12-03-2006, 04:09 AM
I bet you haven't.
Of course I have. Without mentioning any names, the mystery donor is a soon-to-be parent who received the Elmo at a baby shower and is now re-gifting it to AW.

See how easy that was?

Ol' Fashioned Girl
12-03-2006, 04:14 AM
Erm... easy. But wrong. :D

Silver King
12-03-2006, 04:26 AM
This might prove tougher than I thought. I'll need Writerteri's help on this one. She'll solve the mystery without any clues, but we'll preserve the secret and keep it to ourselves.;)

Ol' Fashioned Girl
12-03-2006, 05:05 AM
Actually... I've been given permission to AUCTION off the Secret Identity of our donor! We'll make it a sub-auction Mini-13!

What'm I bid? :)

JennaGlatzer
12-03-2006, 05:24 AM
LOL!! OK, I bid $1 to reveal the secret identity! What a cool donation. You're pretty amazing, secret person!

Silver King
12-03-2006, 06:04 AM
$2, for a clue.:)

Ol' Fashioned Girl
12-03-2006, 06:07 AM
Hmmm... a clue... a clue...

Our Secret Donor is NOT pregnant. :)

Pay up, Silver.

Silver King
12-03-2006, 06:11 AM
Pay up, Silver.
I'm in. I'll bump it up to $5 for juicy tidbit.

Ol' Fashioned Girl
12-03-2006, 06:21 AM
I'll give you three:

Our Secret Donor and I have several things in common: we both love historical novels; we're both unpublished; and we both have cats.

That oughta narrow it down, eh? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Silver King
12-03-2006, 06:26 AM
Boy, five bucks sure doesn't buy what it used to. I'll take a wild stab at it: Medievalist?

Ol' Fashioned Girl
12-03-2006, 06:29 AM
Is Medievalist unpublished?

Silver King
12-03-2006, 06:36 AM
Is Medievalist unpublished?
If not, she should be.

I'll throw in another bone for some valuable information. I'm up to six now, so make it a good one.

Silver King
12-03-2006, 06:49 AM
Is Medievalist unpublished?
That didn't come out right. I meant if she wasn't published, she should be!

LOL! I was wondering why you insulted dear Lisa.

Dawno
12-03-2006, 06:54 AM
I'll bid $10 for the identity - but I want to keep it secret if I win :D

Ol' Fashioned Girl
12-03-2006, 06:59 AM
Oh, it'll be kept secret! The only people who'll know are the winning bidder, Secret Donor, and me!

Ol' Fashioned Girl
12-03-2006, 06:59 AM
$11 for the Secret Identity?

$52 for TMX Elmo?

Silver King
12-03-2006, 07:02 AM
LOL! I was wondering why you insulted dear Lisa.
I almost died when I realized what I'd said. It was the complete opposite of what I meant.

I blame Jen for putting "un" in front of "published.":tongue

Silver King
12-03-2006, 07:17 AM

You run a hard bargain, but $11 it is. And don't forget I didn't get a clue for my earlier bid.

You run a hard bargain, but $11 it is. And don't forget I didn't get a clue for my earlier bid.

Yeah, you did. Three of 'em, in fact!

Lessee... our Secret Donor has a fear of something most would consider unusual...

And just 'cause you're cute: s/he's already had his/her birthday this year! :wag:

Silver King
12-03-2006, 07:55 AM
I'll throw in another bone for some valuable information. I'm up to six now, so make it a good one.
I'm a stickler for detail and don't remember any hints for this bid.

But that's okay. I'll go to $15 if you answer this one: Does the mystery benefactor work in a mod capacity?

Ol' Fashioned Girl
12-03-2006, 07:58 AM
$15 it is!

No.

Ol' Fashioned Girl

$52 if you want to get in on the bidding for the TMX Elmo!

Silver King
12-03-2006, 08:05 AM
Great. So that leaves only 12,102 more members to guess through.

I'm working on it...

Ol' Fashioned Girl
12-03-2006, 08:14 AM
Well, you got all night now... I'm hittin' the bed! There's a pillow in there seductively calling my name and Ol' Boy's backside needs warmin'!

G'night all!

Silver King
12-03-2006, 08:28 AM
G'night all!
Sweet dreams, Jen.

When you awaken, the light will be streaming in like gold bars across your pillow. Ol' Boy will have fresh coffee and muffins waiting, and just before you sit to enjoy breakfast, you'll think, "I wonder if that knucklehead down south figured out who the mystery donor is?" You'll pause, a muffin in one hand and mug in the other, and think, "I better go check."

Ol' Fashioned Girl
12-03-2006, 05:45 PM
Well... not exactly.

There was a mug of tea in the microwave, no paper, no muffins, no sun and a surly cat curled up in MY chair!

But I did wonder if my Southern :LilLove: Knucklehead had made any progress...

Silver King
12-03-2006, 06:23 PM
Good morning, Jen!

I've been up all night waiting to buy another clue. But first, a quick recap of what we've learned thus far about the mystery donor's identity:

She isn't pregnant, loves historical novels, has at least one cat, and hasn't been published; nor is the person a moderator, Cactuswendy, Jenna, Dawno or Medievalist. She has a fear of something most of us would consider unusual, and has already celebrated her birthday this year.

It must be Maryn.

eldragon

CACTUSWENDY
12-03-2006, 09:12 PM
 Let's see....today is Dec. 3,2006 and you say the birthday has already passed. Well...duh. So has 99% of the year.

I bet 'it' is a male. A grand parent. Has money or a very good job. Maybe even a writer that has 'made it'.

I think he likes young people. (not in a dirty way)

I think he is a very smart person. Well versed in many areas of life. I think that if his name was shared everyone would smack their foreheads and say....'well sure...why didn't I think of him?'

I believe he is also a very helpful type person, and for the most part, people really like him.

:Headbang: I bet it's you that has given Elmo to the cause. It would be just like you. Throw us all off. Yeah. That's it. It's Dawno.

Ol' Fashioned Girl
12-05-2006, 04:11 PM
Ya'll are funny! No, it's not Uncle Jim.

Hey, Dawno! Are you gonna bid $22 to keep my big mouth shut on another clue?

Speaking of which... Elmo's at $55. I need $56 to take him away from eldragon!

What you all think about William being the 'secret' person?

I mean, who would ever think of him doing something like this?

Oh wait...unpublished...sigh.

I still have no idea.

(This is getting into my goodie socks)

I should start another thread advertizing for a kid. Hum....that might work.

Would be interesting to see how many young kids are out there. (Under the age of say,.......10 years old.)

How many of you younger writers have wee ones now?

Now, quit hijackin' my auction! :tongue

I've got $56 from CactusWendy for Elmo...

Ol' Fashioned Girl
12-07-2006, 06:15 AM
Okay... now I'm REALLY confused! You're moving your bid for clues (which I can't think of any more without revealing the Secret Donor anyway!) over to Elmo and adding $30? Your total bid, in other words, is for Elmo alone and not for clues?

So the bid would be $70 for Elmo and back to Dawno's $30 for me to keep my mouth shut?

No twins, or any other type of multiple births, either.

She was a tough gal, all right. She delivered the last dozen or so herself at home. I'm not kidding. You'll think I'm crazy, but she'd take a chair, lower it on its side, position its legs against a wall, and then sit on the floor and lean back and push until the baby was born.

My dad used to say, "You should write about her."

Well, I just did.

If I DO win the Elmo, I won't divulge the mystery donor's identity. Of course, that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to break my will.

$80!

(screenmom flips Silver King to the mat without even mussing her lipgloss.)
Looks like Screenmom and I had simultaneous posts. For the moment, you'll have to offer your bribes to her.

That was a sneaky tactic, jumping me from behind the way she did. I'll be back when I've dusted myself off...

Well gosh darn it!
I go out for a bit o' holiday business and someone, who shall remain nameless, goes and sneaks away with St. Elmo.

Next time I'm setting my proxy bid at ONE MEEEELION DOLLARS!

Happy holidays OFG and Mr. King. That was fun (except for the losing part.)

Ladies and gents... our Secret Donor has absolutely blown me away! I truly believe both Screenmom and Silver King are going to be dumbstruck!

I've got TWO TMX ELMO's and you'll each be the winning bidder.

Yes. You read that right.

Mr. King and Ms. Mom need to both make their payments to AW through PayPal and they EACH will get a TMX Elmo. :)

How's that for a Christmas surprise?

That'll be $80 from you, screenmom, and $81 from Mr. King - just 'cause he tripped you there at the last! (But I was hoping for a pilediver from you!)

And as for you, Ms. Wendy, you're gonna have to sidle up to Ms. Dawno - 'cause these two ain't even gonna know where the Elmos came from! And Dawno ain't never gonna tell! :D

no joy on St. Elmo. Hope he finds his way here soon. Were my directions good enough? He may be in downtown Mumbai now. (My kids are gonna flip.)

Guess what I just got in the mail? Yup, it was Elmo! And not just that, but he arrived with a bonus gift card, and a lovely handwritten note from the sender.

Short of dusting the package for fingerprints, I couldn't find any clues to help solve the mystery of the Secret Donor's identity. All I have to go on is that she's generous and thoughtful, which is really all I need to know.:)

Thanks again, Secret One!

Hey--lookie there. I got one too!

OFG please tell our gracious donor that one small furry red monster has found its way home.

All is well.

Thanks so much to everyone involved. I haven't had this much fun wrestling (I mean, bidding) well, since ever!

Happy holidays y'all!

Gosh, I knew that Elmo has going to be a hit this Christmas. That furry red giggler has been laughing it up for going on 24 hours now. He totally cracks us up. Even Mr. screenmom, who is rather susceptible to the holiday blues, was caught on tape tickling Elmo, even though no children were present. My favorite part is when he slams his face into the floor but his mirth continues unabated. TGFE!

Thanks again y'all

I'm so glad to hear Elmo's found a good home! And even more glad that Mr. screenmom liked him, too!

That Elmo is funny, all right. He was a huge hit yesterday, and not just with the kids, either. When he gets his groove going and flops around on the floor, kicking and laughing, and then stands straight up, why it's just too much. I swear I haven't laughed that hard in ages.

Thanks once more to our Generous Donor, and a special thanks to Jen, who made the auction happen, and who always keeps the bidding interesting.:)
