We had our TGIO ("thank goodness it's over party") last night and all were invited -- winners, non-finishers... basically everyone in our region who made an attempt. There wasn't anyone there who felt that attempting to make it was less than admirable. Besides, if nothing else, celebrate that it's over. Still, I don't think there's any shame in not getting 50K... your novel is probably better reading than ours!

Congrats anyway...

Well, thanks. And I don't know if it's better reading, but it is more than I've ever written on any novel.

I think once back in high school, I got as far as "Once upon a time...."

Congratulations to ALL who participated...And to those who finished: You have my respect and admiration! :) I am NOT jealous. (Keep repeating.)

ltd,

I'm just like you --happy to have participated and thrilled with the amount I got accomplished, even if I didn't "win" the contest, I still "win" with word count greater than I've achieved before!

Great job --I'm proud of everyone!

Congratulations go to everyone who participated!

Ltd, You have a great sense of humor (one of my favorite things in an author). If you want to continue, NaNo offers some more options.

December is National Novel Finishing Month. Goal: 30,000 words. There's also January Novel Writing Month (Goal: 50,000 words or less) and my favorite, National Novel Writing (and Editing!) Year. I'm going to do the year NaNo because I started about five novels before and didn't get far at all. This is the first time I've finished one. I enjoy the NaNo structure and the group energy -- very motivating to me.

Have fun!

I'm glad I'm not the only one in here. As for the cake, it gets all mashed up in your tummy, anyhow. So pass me a slice, and let's get on with the party!

And to calculate the calories for each slice, multiply the words you've written by .10!

Whoops. That's something like 1000 calories for me. Better make it .100! :)

For us techie types cringing at this, there is no difference between multiplying a number by .10 and .100 they are both 1/10 or .1

So that's what's been going wrong with my diet!

Thanks for pointing out my mistake, Mark. I'm thoroughly embarassed. :e2paperba

(Guess it's a good thing I went into writing instead of accounting.)

Don't think of it as a "loser" party.. you may not have achieved a shiny new nano icon, but you are probably thousands of words ahead of where you might have been without Nano. Plus most people learn something about their writing during nano (win or lose) whether it is that you really can write 2000 words in a day if you BIC, or that you need a outline or whatever. I don't see how anyone could be a "loser" with nano, no matter what the word count!
