It started snowing about 5 hours ago and there is currently 4-5 inches on the ground. So it seems, Shadow, the storm you're getting isn't losing momentum as it crosses Lake Michigan and hits us. I was worried it might.

Yay, winter is here!

I'm up in Fond Du Lac today, Shadow.

It's just starting up here, but I hear it's pretty bad down there.

We drove up from Oklahoma last night and it was freezing rain the whole way. Our trailer is coated in an inch of ice. We had to go to Home Depot and buy hammers to get in!

We have to deliver a house worth of furniture in this crap. It's gonna be a long day.

Being an adult sucks. I wanna go sledding!

Gee...and to think I complained about how cold it was here in Houston this morning. Of course...the sun is shining, there isn't a snowflake in sight and it's really only about 58 degrees.

It's cold though.

No, really.

It is.

snow day in STL too. Power outages all over the place (about 500K people without power) because of the ice storm we had last night. Now all that freezing rain, sleet, and snow is headed north. Have fun Chicago and Wisconsin!

First snow day that I can remember in ages.

This is why I love living on the west coast. I live close enough to the snow that I can spend the day, but I don't have to live with shoveling sidewalks and driving on ice.

bronco - this weekend we had 70 degree weather, sunny and beautiful, took the kids to the park, and warm most of the week in the 60's. Then WHAM! :)

just a friendly warning! Winter is here and it may be there soon.

Ooo...wait! I was looking at the high for today. Boy, do I feel dumb. It's only 32 degrees right now. No wonder it felt so cold.

See, it is cold.

Really.

Glad you're all having a taste of what we had - now that we're melting :D

Seattle doesn't do snow. Not well, anyway.

Same Psychosis...different day.
I'm sorry Shadow, I'm sorry folks but...
The smartest thing my parents ever did was to move away from Michiagan. (second smartest...they stopped after me.)( Wait, that didn't come out the way I meant.) (Oh well, you all would twist it no matter how I framed it.)

power outages *shudder* brings memories of a few year ago, we were without power for 9 days, some were without for 11 days. During bowl season too, no football to watch. We hooked up the generator so the tv would work, gotta have the priorites straight.

Ya'll enjoy that crap I sent on up the turnpike yesterday! Oklahoma's had enough! You're welcome, St. Louis! You're welcome, Chicago and points northeast!

We just have lots of rain. In fact, we have so much rain we have almost as many names for it as Eskimos/Inuits are reputed to have for snow.

eg -

a smirr - very fine rain.
wee rain - slightly heavier than a smirr.
light rain - self-explanatory.
heavy rain - ditto.
lashing rain - even heavier.
bucketing o' rain - heavier still.
coming down like stair-rods - so heavy it's solid.

Then we have the summer varieties:

shooting and shining - rain interspersed with glimpses of sunshine.
the Thun'er plout - the heavy rain that presages a thunder storm.

There are more, but I need to go and get a towel now.

I'm not in Michiagan. I'd move away from there, too. :)
