This is more of a legal question, but since it may appear in a comic script,
here it goes. What is the policy on having characters quote song lyrics in a comic book? I've seen this a lot in my comic collection - almost every supervillian has been seen singing "Its the End of The World" by REM and I've noted Alan Moore used some Bob Dylan lyrics in "Watchmen", but those comics were all published by mainstreamers like DC and Marvel, who actually have a legal department. I'm afraid these incidents may have colored my webcomic partner's view, because he's dead-set on using Hendrix lyrics in an upcoming panel. Is it legal, and if so, how do I go about doing it and covering my butt?
