I don’t know if it’s a sign of middle age, but the more books I write, the more trouble I have keeping track of what I’ve written before. I find myself constantly “back checking” my old books to make sure I am staying consistent without being redundant. Since I read and search much more slowly than I write I find it really slows down the process.

Does anybody else out there have trouble remembering what they have written in previous books?

I almost said something about that. I'm not enough books in to forget yet. But I'm sure I will, my memory being what it is. What were we talking about?

ps, you can edit your posts.

I don't have such a problem with that as remembering my character names, the location names, and things like that. So I keep notes at the end of each document. If it is fairly general things such as basic plot, characters, and things like that, why don't you create files for each of your stories that has an outline of the plot, character names, location names, world names, those kinds of things that you are forgetting so the search is a matter of minutes rather than hours?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My working memory for my books has actually gotten better since my first one, where I repeated entire paragraphs without realizing it. Fortunately, this doesn't happen anymore. Unfortunately, writing has sucked up all of my memory, and I can't remember anything else.
