Dear God,
If you are listening, it's Billy. Hi! How are you?

Anyway, I rarely ask for anything, but please make the switch to the new server go smoothly and all the data transfer without incident.

Thank you.

I owe you one.

William H. Thrilly7th aka The Thrill

P.S. Tell Jesus and Abraham and Paramahansa Yogananda and Elvis I said "what up?"

Thank you.

Dear God(which ever one is appropriate for this particular prayer),
I would just like to second Billy's prayer. I, too, would owe you one.
Thanks,
CBeasy.

It will be fine, guys. Top people, who love the forums as much as you do, are overseeing the transfer. However, I would never stop someone from sending their vibes in that direction.

Dear God,

You remember that fiver you bummed off me?

Yeah; if you make a bird poop on Billy's head, we'll be even.

Thanks.

Er.

Amen.

Oh. And make Mac answer my PM. :p

Dear Server God,

As You gaze down in Your Bitwise Way upon a veritable thicket of Servers bending to Your will like people trying to walk to work when it's like really windy you know and you hafta literally BEND and LEAN into the wind so you don't fall on your caboose like in that movie Unfaithful where she skins her knees and meets that Euro guy who's really into books, right? Oh, sorry. Anyway, as You compute the unlucky Daily Sacrificial Server to Transfer its bits into the Nowhere Of Tomorrow just to keep all the other smartass Servers in line could you kinda bypass the AW Server 'specially since I made that earlier "joke" about the Euro guy and the books d'ya think? See, if you laughed, O Saviour of Servers then you really HAFTA keep us around because that, plus an apple a day plus adding a heaping tablespoon of ginseng in your Cabernet Servernon will add eons to your Eternal Existence as an Earth Server God. Why take a chance? You need us, am I right or am I right?

Dear Gods of the Server,

Please don't stay gone long. I can't make it without you.

Our Father who art at Microsoft,
Bill Gates be Thy name. Thy hard drive
spin, Thy Windows begin on earth as in Redmond, Washington.

Give us this day our daily bytes and forgive us our login errors
as we forgive those who plant viruses against us,
and lead us not into Mac OS X, but deliver us from hard drive crashes.

For Thine is the Vista and the Office and the X-Box
forever and ever.

Don' need no steenkin' carrier. Don' need no steenkin' drugs. I can handle being without AW for a day just fine, thank you. No problems. It's not like I'm an addict or anything. Piece of cake.

Oh. Wait.

Oh no.

Excerpted from the reminder e-mail I just sent out:

We know you’re all addicts, and we love you for that, so the chatroom will remain available (http://www.starchat.net/chat/?chan=absolutewrite). If you get a security warning, just click yes, then change the word “Guest” in the “Nick” field to your userid and click “Connect to Starchat.”

Also, Roger has erected a few tents at the old Refugee Camp (http://www.rogerjcarlson.com/Forum/writerforum/default.asp) for those who would like to hang out there. You’ll need to bring your own food and drinks. Since we anticipate only being down for a day, we have not brought in supplies. If we are down longer than anticipated, Mac or one of the mods will post updates there.

Since the traditional gift-giving holidays are almost upon us, you could, if you choose not to write with the time you will gain not surfing the boards, take advantage of the downtime to do a little shopping. Uncle Jim has a few select titles whose purchase helps support AW through the Amazon Affiliate program (http://www.digitalmedievalist.com/aw/unclejim.html). Owning and maintaining our own server is an expensive undertaking. Support AW this holiday season.

If you’ve made a recent sale, maybe you could spare a couple of dollars even without the purchase of a book? Uncle Jim’s page also has a PayPal donation link that you can use to support AW and show your appreciation for Dawnette.

As a final favor, if you blog, please post this information to help spread the word and relieve the fears of anyone not on this mailing list.
