Yes.

R.I.P.

Thank you for being there during my formative years and allowing me to use you to tape the Playboy channel when my parents were out on a Friday and/or Saturday night and then allowing me to watch you anytime I wanted in the privacy of my Thrilly Lair.

P.S. And thank you for the classic 80's movie too. Fletch, Vacation, Ferris Bueller, Red Dawn etc.....

All together now: Awwwwwwwwwwww.

But seriously, that link is blocked by my company's pesky web-censor software, can someone tell me what it's about?

VHS is dead.

Long live VHS.

VHS...sigh. We hardly knew ye. I'll never forget those big, rectangular hunks o' plastic. That whirring sound they made when they loaded...the surrealistic effects when you'd put them on pause...all the little white gears and pulleys and mystery parts that would reveal themselves when accidentally stepped-on...snif. The space those cassettes took up in my entertainment center is only matched by the place they held in my heart...I'm sorry...this is devastating news...

Its true, I was at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago and was looking for the VHS movies to buy my kids one and I was like "uummm, ok, where did they move them?" and the guy at the electronics counter said they dont sell VHS movies anymore. I was shocked. So now I have to buy some darn dvd players lol

I still have a record player and hundreds of LPs -- and love them.
But I am not a fan of VHS - use it only to watch old Disney and home videos.

I have over a thousand LPs. I will NEVER give them up and in fact I'm currently looking for a newer, better turntable.

VHS? I hate rewinding. I hate fastforwarding. We've been replacing our collection with DVDs for years now. If something tries to replace DVD, I am NOT on board.

You hear that Blu-Ray and HDDVD? You're not allowed in our house!

It's okay. If a technophobe like me can handle DVDs, you can too. It's actually wonderful. No rewinding. Good pictures. Easy to pause and find a specific scene. Even my kids can run the dvd players.

Bye bye, VHS. You were a good one. *sniffs*

Thank you for keeping me company during my tender years. I still own you and refuse to give up my tapes. DVD just isn’t good enough for “About Last Night”, “Better Off Dead”, or “The Sure Thing”.

Heck, it's better! You get all sorts of cool extras you don't get with VHS. Or better yet, you can choose when to watch them instead of having to fastforward through stuff you aren't interested in. DVDs win hands down. For example, Star Wars VHS tapes have this long boring interview with George Lucas in the front. To get to the movie you have to fastforward past it hoping you find the beginning of the movie.

I love DVD for all my television shows because of the extra features. Besides, it takes up a lot less room.

Yeah, but I have the complete Columbia boxed set of The Outer Limits in its original sixties incarnation on VHS! Every. Single. Episode. I'll never give 'em up, ya hear?? NEVER!! Okay, I'm better now. Just making the point I'll never give 'em up...thank you.

Well, I do think that nearly $50 for just season 1 of the Outer Limits is excessive. Just as I will never buy the original series of Star Trek on DVD simply because I don't think each season is worth over $100. Why is that so much more expensive than say, Lost in Space or Wild, Wild West at a quarter that price?

AND WHERE'S MY MAN FROM UNCLE?
