In about 9000 words, you'll find out, Smiley! I know you can do this.

I'm still in shock about the whole thing. I survived. This rocks.:e2headban

And now I must dance.:e2dance:

C'mon everybody - join the party! We have cookies.

And here I am!

Wooohooooooo

Dang it feels good! Something accomplished. A formidible task set forth - overcome. A goal, distant though it was - attained. A quest volunteered for - completed. A quiet (ok maybe not so quiet) sense of pride - achieved.

Nano means a lot to me. My daily life contains very little in the way of significant milestones that are by choice rather than imposed (i.e. turning 50) and to stretch myself and for a brief time, to feel like I am a real writer, is worth more than gold to me. Sure the book is one step above complete cr*p, that is not the point. For one shining instant, I stand tall:

I am a writer and I HAVE WRITTEN A BOOK!

Now, where is that cake:

Dawno, I love your nifty winner icon! Where can I get me one of those?

:partyguy:10000

I'm sorry I didn't answer sooner, smiley10k - when you do the final verification and it's over 50k the site automatically takes you to the page with the winner icons.

I had a bit of a panic the night I went to put in the "official" verified version - somehow I hadn't saved my doc correctly and when I loaded what I thought was my final version the count was just 45k! I just about fainted. So I went back to the last copy in the .doc version, re-saved as .txt and re-loaded...and bit my nails as I waited! Fortunately for my blood pressure it was over 50k and I had done it! w00t!

I look forward to you joining us here!

I'm all legal now--purple bar and all. Best of all--I'm still obsessed with my novel. Yay! I think I'll finish it in December. Of course that means I have to edit it. And the middle grade mystery I finished at the end of October. And the children's chapter book. And I should polish and resubmit that novel I was shopping around.

Ack.

Calm thoughts. Eat cake.

I can't stop. But now I feel guilty. I've been putting things off "until I finish NaNo."

Now I'm there. It's sort of weird.

Does anyone else have this weird sense of loss now it's done?

Absolutely, its kind of wierd.. I am expecting to need to write, but there is no more pressure.. Fortunately my novel is not finished yet and I am still really into it, can't think about my other WIP because I need to finish up the main story... still, its wierd, we will all go back to our AW forums and never see each other again!

Hee - until next year anyway.

Trouble for me is that I finished my stories (I did ten shorts rather than one long), so I just have revising to look foward too.

Spose I should try to write a long in December or something...

It is strange - I had this drive to reach the 50k and I really made an effort to write something I would want to keep working on...but I'm struggling a bit after a long weekend off. Gonna work on it tonight.

We could (re: Mark's comment about never seeing each other again) all join one of those weekend progress report threads - the one in Humor takes all genres...

Hey, anyone going to their regional parties later this week? I didn't make it to any of them :( nor the local write-ins...probably won't do the party either since it's in the city and I really despise the drive (and the parking).

Just the virtual party for me. There's a daily word count thread in mystery too. We need a NaNo exile thread. :D

So many people to give hats & fudge to!

Congrats, everyone on getting here! I'm so proud of everyone (& all those who I know will be here in the next couple days).

I'm feeling less lost this year than last one, probably 'cuz I don't have another WIP to go back to, so I'm editing this one at least thru the end of November.

Never see each other? Silly people. Won't we be around AW?

Just made it across the finish line! Whooteewhoot whoot!! :hooray:

It's been an interesting process -- this is my first time to complete a novel. That feels like a real accomplishment in itself and I look forward to many more.

Now to get the dishes done and clothes washed and on to more writing.
