Is "skylighted" the right military term

for when a soldier fighting at night sees an enemy siloutted against the night sky as the ememy comes over a hill?

"Skylined" is the term you're looking for. It comes from the figure being outlined against the sky.

we would call it sillouhetted (excuse spelling if wrong)

I think Siloutted is the term I would use too, but I am not military. I was looking for a word with a military flavor. And Welcome to AW!
