The Spanish Prisoner is driving me nuts

If anyone can enlighten me here, I'd really appreciate it. I'm a big David Mamet fan and loved The Spanish Prisoner. But there's one thing I can't figure out and everyone I've asked doesn't know either.

Okay- so about midway through the movie Campbell Scott's character begins to realize that he's been duped. He looks at the photo album that Rebecca Pidgeon's character created of their business trip at the start of the movie, and sees a photo of a dark-haired woman. The camera holds on a close-up of the woman and Scott's character says "Oh my God..." or something like that.

So who's the woman? And what exactly is the significance here? Thanks for any help.

Steve
