Seeing as how there seems to be so many coffee drinkers here, pull up a chair and stay awhile. I've brewed a fresh pot of coffee -- and have some hot chocolate, if that's more your speed. :D

Can we not talk about the elections, or gay marriage, or belly buttons?

Yay! My hubby watched all this election footage and kept telling me to stop typing so he could hear things. Aaaaaargh! I'm trying to NaNo here and I voted. Show me the results later but don't make me listen to all the analysts trying to "guess what everything means."

Mmmm-happy-happy! Stuff from a friends fundraiser came in. Expresso beans coated in dark chocolate. Yummy. And I won't sleep for a week. :D

Let's discuss . . . the book you're currently reading. Or the last book read. This will be odd here. Talking about books, I mean.

I'm reading Bill Bryson's "Neither Here Nor There."

I just love his stuff. "A Walk in the Woods" is my favorite non-fiction book of all time.

I read A Walk in the Woods two or three years ago. I enjoyed it, for the most part.

The odd thing was he talked a lot about the environment, but those two guys must have left more trash on the trail than a troop of winos. At one point one of them was throwing canned goods off into the woods.

I recently, and for no known reason, had a mental flash back to reading (for school) Waiting for Godot.

Gads.

Reminds me of on Earth Day celebration here in Seattle, the people attending left a mountain of trash all over the parks !

Katz. Katz is certifiably insane.

I loved it because I have a fondness for the Appalachian trail and read it for the first time on vacation in the Smoky Mountains. It just fit the mood.

Part of the charm and humor (for me) about Bryson is that he seems aware of just how awful he and Katz were on the trail. Those two shouldn't be allowed out of their houses without armed guards. For their own protection.

Have you gotten this confused with the "sex thread"?

But, to answer your question, yes.

I noticed this week that all the Xmas catalogues are starting to arrive in the mail. There's was a particularly tasty looking one from Wolfermans. Has anyone tried their muffins and crumpets? They look really yummy.

Kitsap - still wringing out, and still waiting for Godot.

I was wandering the halls of the Mystery section in Barnes & Noble last weekend, trying to find something interesting - I did the "Hook me in 20 words or less" test to about 15 books, and not one of them hooked me!

Ya, I noticed its getting harder for me to find books that hook me like that..in fact..I havent read one I really liked in a very long time.

Cornwell is always good of course, though I hate her non-scarpetta novels.

I picked up Evanovich's Twelve Sharp last week and it's really "meh." I've only laughed out loud once and I'm more than halfway through it.
