I told my daughter to put away the dishes in the dishwasher. She defiantly came up to me and said that they were dirty. I said no they weren't and to put them away like I asked her to. She insisted they were dirty and I know I turned on the dishwasher myself and heard them washing last night. Surley she's just trying to get out of it.

"Put the dishes away! They are clean! That's just residue!"

Guess what I'm doing now?

Picking the dirty dishes out of the drawers and cupboards...

I know! We only have 2 rules here:

1. The mom is always right.
2. When in doubt refer to rule #1.

Now I'll have to change that, but just to save face I won't.

Whoa, y'all actually empty the dishwasher and put the laundry away? I withdraw my invitation for anybody from AW to drop by whenever they're in the neighborhood.

Well Maryn, as long as you're not actually eating out of the dishwasher and wearing the laundry basket, you're doing okay in my books.

 Why not just deny they're dirty and save face.

I'll stand to lose something if I insist their clean to her face while the food is still dripping off the plates. I need someone to change my diapers when I'm old.

Yup, happened to me about a month ago. It was my younger son who TOLD me they were dirty. I said, "No way. Now get to work."

He did.

They were.

We have two rules also:
1. Don't scare the mama.
2. Don't piss off the mama.

Break these rules or any combination thereof and the upper limit of pain and suffering will be promptly located.

I just love it when my baby saunters in and announces, "We need a new mom. This one is broken."
