It's supposed to be Iron Maiden's Eddie.

It didn't come out as cool as I hoped, and I spent longer on it than I care to admit. And my fingers smell worse than they usually do. But it's done.

Kansas! Again.
Last time I posted pictures of my "Pumpkin," Macallister threatened to block my IP address. :(

It might have been okay if you hadn't drawn the little smiley face on it.

I don't care pumpkins. I go around the neighborhood and destroy other people's pumpkins. HAH!

(I don't. I'm kidding.)

It's almost ritualistic around here. It's why I won't be carving pumpkins this year, any more than I did the past couple of years that I've been back in Minnesota. I'm not able to keep them inside, because the cats would have far too much fun, and I'm not putting them outside for some kid to smash up.

(I should put the pumpkin in front of a bush and then wait behind the hedge with a baseball bat. Yes.)

We keep ours inside until Halloween. They won't get smashed during trick-or-treating because we keep the door open, and if they get smashed afterward, it's not a big deal. It's the night before (tonight) when it's irritating. Especially when the person who carved it is a little kid.

We carved too early, so our kid (home on fall break) could participate. They're well into the truly creepy stage of interior mold now, and one is rotting a bit. Maybe I'll get out later and snap another round of pictures.

Maryn, surprised the critters didn't eat any

You can slow down that decay by spreading vaseline or white glue over the carved-out bits.

Chris, who has 22 pumpinks in the back of his car at this very moment.

Last year, I brought mine inside for Devil's Night, because I was in a new area and I just wanted to be sure.

Am I the only one who calls it Devil's Night? I thought it was a common term, but it doesn't seem to be too common in Florida. Maybe it's because my stepfather is from Michigan?

I used to hear that phrase pretty commonly in Vermont, but I haven't heard it anywhere else in the world.

We did the Vaseline thing, used about half a jar on 3 pumpkins. Next year I'll try the white glue.

Got any tips for my towels that smell funky only when they're wet? :D

A couple of drops of bleach in the water. Make sure the bleach is diluted before you add the towels. Or if your worried about the towels having bleach spots (possibility) use some Lysol liquid in the water. Kills the germs wich cause the oder from leaving the towels in the washer too long after washing. Or not.

I'm from Florida, and I call it Devil's Night. Though, I must admit, I got it from a very cliche' movie.

I don't think I'm going carve a pumpkin this year. It's kind of sad.
