You wonderful humor writers:

I am a greeting card writer who would like to purchase some good humor books, preferably those containing one-liners, for grist for the greeting card mill. Can any of you suggest some titles that would be appropriate? I really don't know where to start. Of course, there are one-liners in SEP Magazine, Reader's Digest, Inc. , and I do have the Digest's latest humor book, but much of the humor is in longer jokes.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

I've seen several excellent 'cowboy humor', 'cowboy wisdom' type books filled with old sayings - wonderful one-liners! I don't know if you're into that type of greeting card (or really if there's even a market for it!), but they're great. The one I have readily to hand at the moment is 'Savvy Sayin's: Lean and Meaty One-Liners' by Ken Alstad.

Certain stand-up artists like Rodney Dangerfield, Steven Wright, or Mitch Hedburg can spur your one-liner creative mind as well.
