I'm working on an article for Writer's Digest about the increased demand for writers to market themselves online through blogs, websites with free stories, participation in chats and e-mail groups, etc. I can find plenty of people who do this to talk about the "pro" side of the equation, but I'm interested in learning more about the "con" side.

Anyone want to talk about why they don't put much time into promoting themselves online in this way? Or who used to, but learned that it's not an effective use of time?

For this article, I'm looking only for writers who are published with a commercial press (with books readily available in bookstore chains).

Please PM or e-mail me with responses instead of posting here. Thanks!
