What's with all the cat avatars?

I couldn't help but notice that so many people have avatars with cats in them. Cats with hats; cats wearing clothes (even a space suit); cats with guns. I suppose there could be good reasons for this, such as:

1. Cats are good companions for writers?
2. Cats are just generally good companions for anybody?
3. Cats are cute?
4. You are really cats and not human beings?

So I hereby request that all people with cat avatars please post here, so that everybody an see them. :e2brows:

p.s. I haven't seen any dog avatars, so if you have one, please post too! :e2bear:

Okay, I don't have a cat avatar but I do have cats. Aside from your list of reasons I think their sense of independence is a factor, too.

And Haggis has a dog avatar. At least he did until the Tigers got into the World Series. (Which is another cat. Does this mean Haggis has changed sides?)

It's the complete absence of reptilian avatars that baffles me. I think this board suffers from far too few toads and lizards and creatures with slimy skin. As it happens, I rather enjoy zapping flies with my tongue, but any time I start a thread on this topic, I get very few comments. Except from the flies.

There are a small but viscious pack of dogs in these parts. I'm sure Haggis will be along shortly. he's pack leader.

Here I am. I've had several cat avatars in recent months (and wasn't there a thread about this not too long ago too?) and even had a shark for a while. But this guy

Unfortunately, I had to cage the dog avatar until after the World Series. Once Detroit wins, he'll be free to terrorize the cats again.

That's as good of a reason as any. I have a soft spot for Detroit and have for a long time, plus I just love Pudge and have since he was a Ranger. I have to have someone else to root for since my Rangers never have a freakin' hope of doing anything. *sighs*
