I was trying to battle the crowds at Wal-Mart last weekend. And then it happened. As I meandered my way through the frozen food aisle, a nice woman stopped me and asked, "Are you the columnist who writes for the paper?" Shocked, I didn't know what to say at first, aside from the obvious answer of "YES!!!" She went on to tell me how much she enjoys my weekly columns...and...WOW...people are actually reading what I write. It never really seemed real until then. I guess that first person who recognizes you will always be special.
And then. two days later when I was in the gas station, the clerk told me the same thing.
It was really a good writing week, huh??
