Just got rejected by another agent today. Form rejection letter. I hate those!

At least she responded. About 8-10 agents I queried just plain never bothered to. They ate my stamps!:bang

Not that I'm grateful for another rejection :rolleyes but...

The Wade & Doherty Literary Agency (London) sent me a very polite, NON-FORM rejection -- 2 days after I emailed them a query and synopsis!

More agencies should follow their example. At least I feel like a human being and not a cow at the slaughterhouse this morning.

That would be nice. Have a friend who said, "nice rejections are better than form or not rejection, but I'd rather have a rude acceptance." Sorry they didn't see the brillance in your work, but at least you are submitting, that's half the battle.

Dear Writer:

We failed to see any meaning in your story. Your syntax sucks, and the sentences were way too long.

Your piece will be in our December issue, and please spend the enclosed check on some writing courses.

The Editor

I could live with that.

Nita:

Submitting is my only choice re: that agency. they don't want me, so I won't waste my time.

Rich:

Yeah, I'd frame that acceptance letter! Heck, I'd frame any acceptance letter. :grin

Funny, Rich. :lol

Today I got rejected by an agent who charges fees. That's really rather sad.

At least it was a personal rejection. :head

This one may be my own fault. I think I sent to the same agency twice, using 2 different contacts.<img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/embarassed.gif" />

Blame it on the impending upper resp. that sidelined me for the better part of 3 days after I did that mass mailing!

Then I got a 1/6 page slip from Marcia Amsterdam. Remember that old Peanuts cartoon where Snoopy gets a rejection slip and goes into "rehjection slip shock"? This one is worded, I think, exactly the same way!

Yuck, all told.

Well, the US Post Office is still delivering. >sigh<

The Axelrod Agency sent me a form rejection slip that said, in part, "...due to our commitments we cannot offer to read your material".

What's up with that baloney?! THat's not (IMO) even a legitimate rejection! At lease read my scribblings before you boot me out the door.

Feh.

Boo on sneaky people! That rejection I thought was a personal line or two...wasn't. I just received another rejection today in the EXACT SAME 'PERSONAL" PHRASING.

Feh.

I'm taking a submitting break. Going to work on the sequel and wait for the 2005 Christian Writers' market to come out. Going to focus on niche marketing. I *was* in marketing for 10 years. I know this game. Now I hope to work it to my advantage.

Frances Collin rejected my requested partial yesterday. :-( She did send me a very courteous, kind personal letter, but it was still a "no." I do respect the fact that she took the time to be civil, though. So many agents, many of them higher echelon (and I could name names!), don't bother to respond at all.

maestrowork

She is very cordial and nice. But I still can't believe she asked for a partial, took more time than she told me, then told me she was looking for the next King or Grisham.
