Hi everyone. So I tried sending an email to CampFire Press and this is what bounced back,
'The user does not accept email in non-Western (non-Latin) character sets.'

Um, what does this mean?

Sorry, I'm a little email challenged.

Er... It could mean you used ñ, Ç or something like that?

Thanks a bunch. I resent the email, so I'll see what happens.

Looks legit to me.
What does "legit" mean? "Doesn't charge a fee?" There's a lot more to it than that.

Looking at the website, I see some problems.

- There's no information on who's behind the company, so you have no idea whether they have any qualifications to run a publisher.

- No sign of a distributor.

- No sign of trade journal reviews (which suggests they are skipping one of the most important steps in book marketing: sending out ARCs in advance of publication). The website claims that the company's one published book is a BookSense pick, but I can't find it on any of the BookSense lists.

On the plus side, they seem to be limiting the number of books they publish (one way micropresses get into trouble is to overcommit to large numbers of books). But I'd say this is very much a wait-and-see situation.

- Victoria

Dangit. Can't remember where I heard about this place...I'll have to do some digging. But anyways, they're definitely legit from what I remember, and have quite a few established folks working behind them, I believe.

Still only the one book.
