it's 10:33 on a Sunday night,

and I'm sofa king drunk right now.

I'm at the stage of drunkenness where I have to tell other people that I'm drunk.

Also, if you know a Spaniard, pat them on the back for their fantastic wine!

Also Pablo Neruda gets better when you're drunk. And, he's great to begin with!

You're drunk on wine and laying on the couch...on a Sunday night? Oh honey, you need to get out more.

I'm not drunk...and I'm not on the couch...

But I did just watch the Bears crush the Seahawks....that was fun.

Good luck with the wine and the couch!

:)

I started when the cowboys smashed the titans, but that was two houses ago...

I'm not on a COUCH. I'm on a futon! Futons are awesome. I blogged about futons!

Can I steal the thread a moment? Just to brag about how wonderful the weekend was with the West Coast Eagles winning the premiership in Australia's only real footy code? Yay Eagles! Now there's a reason for drinking too much (though it's now Monday over here and at least some of us are sober)

Badducky's a drinker.

DRINKER!

I'm one author who is entirely sober and not on any sort of couch at all, and yet I just managed to take a step backward and crush a CD underneath my heel. That isn't fair, not even a little.

Wouldn't that depend on the CD?

It was my Final Fantasy X soundtrack, which is why it isn't fair. I like that CD.

The fact that I have it on two computers and an iPod does not lessen the tragedy, though. Okay?

Spanish red wine is indeed something to crow about. Love it, love it, love it. Have not been drunk in a good long while, because I hate being drunk. But two thirds through the second glass is three feet from heaven I think.

I've been drunk on red wine more times than I care to remember, the most recent being Thursday night. Unplanned, unprepared for and very much paid for the next day!

And Jenny, please don't remind me about the Eagles. I'm a huge Swans fan and I'm still not totally recovered!

Badducky and all (excessive) red wine drinkers: wow! I've found other people who are almost divinely happy doing it. I'm not one of them, alas... but I've had VERY long conversations with a professor of mine. He's obsessed with wine. He was obsessed enough to spill it all over a stack of our essays he was looking through last year. :D I'll have to tell him that "his people" are here. He may just join in the virtual festivities if I do!

I'm like an old blues player who plays better when totally hammered.

Unfortunately, unlike the blues players, my art doesn't improve.

(also, for them that keep misunderstanding the "sofa king"... say this real fast over and over again: "I am sofa king we todd ed" or catch that episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force)

Wonderful stuff, that Spanish wine! And Italian, and Chilean, and Australian, and--let's have an around-the-world wine tasting, shall we? So, ducky--exactly what were you drinking there? What year, by whom, etc? I'm always looking for new wines to try.

And more importantly, did you decant the box first?

Jenny

At least by drinking it all at once he didn't get the last bit int he box that turns to vinegar. And Mandy-Jane, commiserations. I remember last year and it was horrible.

Box? Heathens...

No, Crianza Tempranillo 2002 from the Rioja region of Spain. >15 dollars a bottle down here in tax-the-shi'ite-out-of-anything-sinful land.

Also, I drank some Cotes du Rhone, but the Tempranillo was the better of the two by far.

(admittedly, my pallete wasn't pristine by then...)

Lightweight!

Thanks, ducky--I'll have to pick some up. If you like that, I bet you'd like our (fiance and my) current fave: Masi Campofiorin 2002. We can't usually find it at the grocery store, but Beverages and More usually stocks it (don't know if you have those where you are) for about $13 a bottle. It's nice and spicy, without making you choke and pucker.

Anyone else have a current (or past) favorite wine?

Along the lines of good wines, I have been thinking of good wines with strange names. Try: Goats Do Roam (south african with a little butterscotch finish) and Il Bastardo (dry and spicy).

Try them. ..

I've been curious about Goats-do-Roam! I see it all the time, and get a kick out of the name, but have never tried it. What's it like?
