I have a desktop, so I had no idea laptops got so warm they could hurt your skin! Sheesh. The Aveeno bath will indeed pull out the sting of minor burns (or the itch of chicken pox or poison ivy), although cleaning the tub won't be a lot of fun. Any aloe lotion will keep the skin well moisturized, meaning you'll peel less (if the burn is bad enough to peel). Consider using Benedryl liquid, the stuff they sell for anti-itch purposes, if the sting still bothers you. (Plus it's the best I've found for mosquito bites.)

This is what I use underneath my laptop when it is actually on my lap. Unless I'm sitting watching TV, then I use a pillow from the couch. And yes they do get very hot.

What kind of a laptop do you have? Do you know Apple has recalled a lot of batteries in the past month because of overheating and exploding? You may need a new battery.

Now why did I think this had anything to do with gentlemen pleasures?

Please be careful about what you use to keep the hot laptop from burning the legs. For example, a pillow may decrease air circulation and compromise the action of the fan, thus increasing the heat. If something is placed between the laptop and the lap, I'd suggest something firm (let the jokes begin), like a sheet of plywood or a lap tray.

Dell has as well. It's a serious concern.

PH is right. Mine was on the recall list. Seriously, your laptop shouldn't get hot enough to burn you. The recalled batteries overheated and burst into flame. Check your manufacturer's website or call the store where you bought it.

On top of a laptop
I had that too, then I went to Office Max and bought a lap writing thingy,
solid top with a foam bead bottom that fits well on the legs and the solid top allows circulation.

$20.00 priceless!

Heat is a killer of processors and hard drives on both desktops and laptops. The heat generated by the processor and hard drive is a problem.

Laptops are poorly designed for cooling their processor and hard drive because manufacturers are designing them too thin, thus eliminating room for a fan on the processor and hard drive.

Get a cooler and don’t prevent airflow from, or to the bottom air vents.

Thanks all, I'm back to typing with two huge red bubbly welts, one on each thigh. Unreal. I'm going to get one of those thing's Persi uses, at least then I won't look like an ***, walking around in a pair of shorts.
It's a macbook, not one of the ones on recall, it's new, and apparently I have a really high pain tolerance for NOT NOTICING how bad it was getting..."hmm, thighs are getting warmer...warmer still...warmer..."
I need to stop drinking while typing.

Look on the bright side.

At least this thread wasn't about Laptop Skid Marks.

Granted, I can't even imagine how one would get skid marks on their laptop.

Oh...wait...hold on....yes...yes I can imagine it.

And, I'm really wishing I hadn't.

Although, if you are using an apple; you may need a decent operating system instead.
Seems implausible to me. Everyone knows OS X is way cool.
