Just got a new JumpDrive. If you ain't got one yet, this is a must have!

I got it because I lost still another floppy disk amongst the pile of unlabeled 3.5's in the media graveyard.

This thing is fast!!! Fast! Fast!!!

Yarmy's got a new toy!

These little USB drives are fargin' cool, man. Our desktop publisher uses one to transfer files from customer machines to hers for printing. Saves us having to let a customer machine connect to our network -- NO WAY BUB! -- or them having to burn a CD just for a 2MB file -- if they even have a burner.

Every now and then something comes along that's a sure-fire hit, and this is one of those gadgets.

They are totally under advertised!

Get your toys cheaper than your neighbors at newegg.com. I am having extraordinary luck with them.

Pocket drive

I have one of those pocket drives -- 20GB and plays mp3s and DivX video... really cool. I love it.

Re: Pocket drive

Maestro,

who makes that pocket drive. My searches come back flash drives and they are too slow

Re: Pocket drive

Hmmm -- Maestro, where'd you get yours? Brand name please? :grin

The one we use is a 256MB flash drive made by VERBATIM, probably functionally identical to yours, Yarmy. We snap it into a USB port and within seconds WinXP recogizes it as just another drive you can put files on or copy from etc., just like a floppy or hard disk. Brilliantly simple.

Re: Pocket drive

OOPS, sorry chunck. I meant Maestro.

Yes, I love the little dang thing the size of a keyholder.

Re: Pocket drive

The keychain drives are okay but they're small in capacity. I also use SD cards (256MB) to back up and they're only the size of a postage stamp (I have readers on all my machines).

The pocket drive is from Archos. It's actually a media player (plays music files and video files -- DivX/mp4 formats). Holds 20GB and up (depending on models). USB 2.0 -- you plug it in and XP recognizes it as an extra drive. It's really convenenient and cool. I use it as my main mp3 play for working out etc. I only used up like 2GB for media files, so I have 18Gb left for all my files.

It cost me about $320. It's WELL worth the price.

Re: Pocket drive

Now I know what you are talking about.
I just need to back up work so the Jump Drive is perfect for me.

Re: Pocket drive

And the Lord gave thy children the skills they would need to keep thine house in unblinking stereo, microwave, TV and alarm clocks!

Lord WHERE DID I GO WRONG!!!!!

Give me a sign.

So many toys, so few asylums....

Re: Pocket drive

I'm going to get myself one of those really soon. I love the Verbatim Store 'n Go. It's very slick and extremely stylish. And I'm guessing it doesn't cost much too-- max $45.

Any other recommendations?

Re: Pocket drive

Well Mridu, there's the Flipstart PC, and this floppy drive replacement if you use a lot of flash or SD cards and the like.

But before you buy, be sure to read the manual to make sure you don't end up doing any of these Stupid Computer Tricks. Note: some of these are totally geek oriented, so don't worry if you don't see why it's funny. :grin

Re: Pocket drive

They make a 12GB Compact flash card too, if you have $10,000 lying around.

That's right, $10,000. Not a typo.

Re: Pocket drive

You know what's even scarier than thinking about the time Chunky spends surfing the net when he should be writing, looking for these sights?

Some guy taking all that time to create a Jet Powered Beer Cooler! :smack

Duh!

And would you want to live in the house next door?

(I saw the monorail before, on TV. Really cool!)
