Fred's good. I'm a little afraid to ask what "glomp" means... ;)

Glomp is a sort of enthusiastic cyberhug--derived from a manga sound effect/word. Does that make it my turn to use an obscure term?

Tag, you're IT (so to speak :D ). At least I know what manga is...

Look up what? Manga? It's just the Japanese word for graphic novels. Japanese novels are called by the Japanese term to distinuish them from American ones. Though at this point the line in the sand has gotten less clear as people have started using manga as a catch-all term for all Asian comics.

Thanks Aubrey! :D I'm going to have to start peppering my conversations with that word now to look hip and cool. Well, as hip and cool as a middle-aged mother of five can look. ;)

I was actually unaware of the manga reference. My friends and I have just been using it for years. To us, the word means a hug so enthusiastic that the person "glomped" is unable to move.

In other words, a glomp is usually followed by by the glompee saying "Can't...breathe! Need... air!"

However, most of my friends are very into manga, so I'm not surprised.
