A new book on Celine
Dany Bouchard - Newspaper of Montreal
An American publisher is preparing a book showing Celine Dion's rise to fame through various memorabilia that marked her career. The book, which is not expected to be published for a year, will fall under a series of works already devoted to Elvis, John Lennon and Frank Sinatra.
The publisher Becker and Mayer approached Rene Angélil by showing him the first three volumes they published, which contained significant objects-- for example, a concert ticket or the first manager agreements for the careers of Elvis, John Lennon and Frank Sinatra.
"I am a fan of the three," says the imprésario, joined yesterday by the newspaper. "They are very different books from what one sees on the market. The project with Céline in is still at the beginning and we are currently looking at all the material that we have," he confirms.
The fans
From New York, the author of the book, Jenna Glatzer, was particularly enthusiastic to work on the project.
"Celine Dion is marvellous. She treats everyone with equal respect; I went to meet her to ask her questions and she was interested in asking me questions, too," she says with amazement. Celine Dion: Follow your Dreams will appear by the end of the year, or at the latest, in the beginning of 2006.
Author of many works, several of which are devoted to writing, Jenna Glatzer was chosen for the project in October by the publisher Becker and Mayer. For two months, the 29 year old author has questioned the fans of the singer via various Web sites which are devoted to her.
"I find a lot of information from her fans," Jenna explains. "I take note of their questions and try to find answers for them from Céline and Rene to be able to integrate them into the book."
Much work
Jenna Glatzer met Céline and Rene in Las Vegas for the first time in November. "I met them in Colosseum of Caesars Palace, in Las Vegas. I did not have much time with her, but I also spoke to Rene, and to people who work with them."
Jenna Glatzer will meet the couple again this month in Las Vegas.
"She will also meet our teams in Montreal, in Toronto, and in Los Angeles," Rene Angélil mentions. "It really will be an attractive project, although we are only at the beginning."
