Thanks reph and Meaney

My gas tank is running on empty
And I'm twenty-nine miles south of Tempe
In an hour I'm due
to recite some Theroux

(threedog, it's one line at a time...)

Saint Nick has a message for you-who
Being naughty is something you'll rue
Unless you're like me
who gets off scot-free

But turning around sure does tempt me.

Won't nobody come down your flue!

My laptop just gave me the bluescreen :-(

Finishing the other one in progress was next. That's why I didn't start one.

My laptop just gave me the bluescreen :-(
I'd prefer something else: pink or true green

Thanks for that, reph. Within seconds of reading your post, I got a blue screen of death. First time in over a year.

My laptop just gave me the bluescreen :-(
I'd prefer something else: pink or true green
The motherboard's toast

Must've been that motherboard line ;-).

(BTW, be sure to back up everything; once you start getting that, it's only a matter of time before the bluescreen is permanent. Mine just crashed for good this week.)

The motherboard's toast
No more can I post

The Big Question

So my face oscillates red/tangerine

So what is this life all about?

So what is this life all about?
What can I know without doubt?

Perhaps I just need
A good book to read

A boy stood with his dog by the sea,
And they both had their backs turned to me.
In the noise of the squall

Indistinct words that floated so free.

Now, nobody's told me I'm perfect

Okay, so it's 'Stump the Rhymer'...

Now, nobody's told me I'm perfect
And of compliments, I get no surfeit

You were expecting "moon . . . June"?

Now, nobody's told me I'm perfect
And of compliments, I get no surfeit
But my sins are so trivial

No, but neither the bleeding Rosetta Stone

Now, nobody's told me I'm perfect
And of compliments, I get no surfeit
But my sins are so trivial
and my manner convivial

The trick is, position yourself to supply the first or third line

. . . but not the fifth.

Now, nobody's told me I'm perfect
And of compliments, I get no surfeit
But my sins are so trivial
and my manner convivial
That to scramble for sainthood ain't worth it.

Writing verses, you need a big lexicon

I'll take the fifth any day -- that's the money line.

Writing verses, you need a big lexicon
in Bantu, Punjabi or Mexican
